This is a photo of the tree we took down, in our backyard. It had once been 120 feet high, Apparently it had been cut down to the height you see it now; (approx 21 feet ) about 6 years before we bought the house it was (18 feet) in circumference.
By the time we moved in it was dead. It was home to a family of squirrels, and that I felt bad about, however it was also home to a colony of ants, that we found 'difficult to control'.
We did consider cutting it down to "Table height" and building the Deck around it, but it was not in good condition, therefore it was taken right down.
It had to come down in 3 sections and took 3 trips with the "Hi Ab" for it all to be taken away.
I was quite upset that one of the baby squirrels had been killed when the first part of the tree came down, it just did not get away fast enough.
Later on that evening I was even more upset when its Mom came around looking for it, she was crying, just like a baby, that made me even worse. However I had to put it into perspective, the tree had to go!
It's a "picture story" unfolding of our 'before and after' garden. I thought I'd start with the tree, before we could do anything else, it HAD to go.
See you next time!
